Heel Spur

It is not uncommon for a spur to develop on the bottom surface of the heel where the plantar fascia inserts into the bone and where heel pain is usually focused. Usually the spur does not cause symptoms and is an incidental finding. Most doctors say that heel spurs never cause pain and never need surgery. Our opinion is that sometimes heel spurs cause pain and that sometimes a heel spur requires surgery.
